Why PSD needs a converter at all
A PSD is Photoshop's own layered document format — layers, masks, adjustment layers, text, blend modes, the works. No browser, and almost no general image viewer, understands any of that. What this tool actually reads is the flattened preview image Photoshop optionally embeds in the file alongside all the layer data, precisely so other software can get a usable picture out of it without understanding layers at all.

Good to know before you convert
That Photoshop setting is what embeds the flattened preview this tool reads. It's on by default, but if it was turned off, there's no ready-made composite image to extract, and conversion will fail with a clear message.
This tool exports what your PSD looked like flattened at the moment it was last saved. It doesn't let you toggle layer visibility or re-render blend modes — for that, you still need Photoshop or a similar layer-aware editor.
That's a real limitation of the open-source PSD parser this tool uses, documented by the library itself — 16-/32-bit and CMYK PSDs aren't currently supported.
Only the standard PSD format is handled. Photoshop's PSB variant, used for documents larger than 30,000px or 2GB, reports a clear error instead.
That's a real limitation of the browser-side TIFF encoder we use, not a hidden setting — expect a notably larger file than the source PSD's flattened size.
